#1 Contenders Match for the Legacy Title at Wrestlebowl II October 15 Jordan Monroe vs Stacy Ruin vs Kate Steele
Stacy Ruin comes into this match reeling right now, but Kate Steele isn’t far behind. If Jordan wasn’t added to this match, one of them would be able to finally snap their cold spell. While Honor does give opportunities, Ruin and Steele competing to be the next Women’s Legacy challenger is head scratching with the way they these two have performed lately. Jordan has the advantage having won last week in a tag match with Belinda at Pride. Stacy has one victory to her credit in Honor, but that was in her second match, some four months ago. She faces a daunting challenge to pick up her second win against caliber opponents while Kate has lost in each of her previous five matches since her last win more than two months ago, and it doesn’t help that she has Mercedes Vargas on the ball, especially since the #BeatUpKateSteele hashtag has become a thing on social media (and owns back-to back tag wins over her last month). It’s safe to say that like Stacy, Kate needs this win just as much. If there was a time to make a statement, tomorrow night is it for The Siren.
Pick: Jordan Monroe – With Stacy and Kate going through the motions, Jordan is the obvious choice. She has the advantage due to her tag win last week at Pride Tag Team Wrestling, and even though she and Belinda have their sights set on Elemental, there’s no doubt in my mind she capable of pulling double duty challenging for the Legacy Title at Wrestlebowl.
Tatsu Ilkeda vs Mrs. Right
Mrs. Right finally won her first match in Honor last week in a tag team win with Gabriel Griffin against Kate and Teddy Warren. This will be her sixth match in Honor. Tatsu kept pace with Mercedes Vargas two weeks ago with a submission singles win against Hardcore Tag Team Champion Winter to go 6-0. Every week adds more pressure for Tatsu and tomorrow is no different. Tatsu is on the door step of tying the record for the longest unpinned streak in the history of Honor, which is held by Eyesnsane, who won in his first seven matches from late January to early May this year. Can Tatsu take the next step in making history? As Shinji mentioned, Tatsu does have a tag team victory over Mrs. Right, which was the debut for both on the first-ever Pride Tag Team Wrestling show on the Fourth of July, but she would also added a second tag win four weeks later on the 2 August Showdown. Still, neither woman was able to pin the other in those contest. That won’t be the case Wednesday night.
Pick: Tatsu Ikeda – When you’re on a roll, you’re on a roll. I think Tatsu pulls off a gutsy win against the powerful Mrs. Right to continue her momentum.
Char Kwan vs Latoya Hixx
Char Kwan made her Honor onscreen debut last week at Pride Tag Team Wrestling. Even though her request to face Mercedes Vargas didn’t happen, that doesn’t mean they won’t meet down the road. For now, Char gets to face an equally tough challenge in the mainstay Latoya Hixx, who is coming off a tough loss with Blasted Monk against The Three Way for the Pride Tag Titles last week.
Pick: Latoya Hixx – Even though Kwan is making her debut, Latoya has the experience factor. She has just two victories in Honor and really needs this win in the worst way to snap her 11-month losing streak dating back to last October. The loss last week was her ninth straight defeat.
Travis Blake vs Gabriel Griffin
Blake suffered his first loss in Honor to Dax Becket after his successful debut three weeks ago. Griffin competes in his tenth career match in Honor and is coming off a tag team win with Mrs. Right against Kate and Teddy Warren last week at Pride. This is a match to keep tabs on.
Pick: Travis Blake – Gabriel Griffin has a few singles wins in his belt so he’ll come to play, but so will Travis in hopes of avoiding a second defeat. I think Travis wins in a close one.
John Blade vs Dax Beckett
Dax Beckett cost himself a match to send another statement to the Honor roster as the Bad Boys laid waste to Honor Champion Kevin Hunter and Alex Reigns last week at Pride. Now with John Blade in his sights, Beckett will continue his message in the first of two matches featuring the notorious stable.
Pick: Dax Beckett – John Blade shows heart, but it won’t be enough against Dax Beckett and his crew. This is a mismatch, and it doesn’t help that Blade will have to have eyes in the back of his head as where Beckett goes, the Bad Boys aren’t too far behind. Beckett takes it.
Thomas Miller vs Shinjiro Yamamoto
This will be round two between The Joker and The Champ, with Shinji owning a pinfall victory in their last meeting on the 23 August Showdown. Don’t look now, but this might develop into a full blown feud for the rest of the year, if it isn’t already. If you loved the original, you’ll love the sequel here.
Pick: Shinjiro Yamamoto - This time it won’t be as easy.
Honor Championship Match Tim Staggs vs Kevin Hunter ©
For a match that should be on pay-per-view, the fans in Montpelier get this one for free. Tim Staggs is a former champion in his career (he held the SCW World Tag Team Championship back in 2015), but this will be his first world title match. Talk about pressure. On the other hand, Staggs is still pretty new so a loss doesn’t hurt him too bad either. Kevin Hunter faces his third challenger for his title since winning it at Kingdom of Hawaii, having defeated John Blade (12 July Showdown) and Mark Wright (Zero Hour 13 August) along the way. Tomorrow night marks the 100th day of his reign since winning the title in a triple threat at Kingdom of Hawaii back on 12 June.
Pick: Kevin Hunter – While Tim is capable of pulling off an upset, there’s a chance that the Bad Boys will be having a front row seat and could cost Staggs the match by waylaying the champ again like they did last week. I think Hunter holds on to extend his reign into Wrestle Bowl II.
Main Event Triple threat Match Legacy Championship Debbie Ruin vs Dahlia Rotten vs Alicia Lukas ©
Debbie Ruin finally got her first win in Honor two weeks ago. Granted, it was against her sister, but let’s not ruin a good story, no pun intended. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to keep her run going last week. Dahlia Rotten has truly lived up to her last name, making life absolutely miserable for her opponents. As part of The Three Way, Dahlia and Eric Lockyer continue their dominance with their first successful defense of the Pride Tag Team Titles last week at Pride's main event. This is Rotten’s second opportunity at the Women’s Legacy Title, which ironically was also in a triple threat that saw Sam Tolson pin then-champion Courtney Leinart to win the match and the title at Kingdom of Hawaii to become the first-ever two-time champion. A month after her last defense against Women’s Honor Champion Tolson ended in a draw at Zero Hour, Lukas will look to defend her title for the third time. She’s beat Kate Steele (Kingdom of Hawaii) and Samantha Tolson (the aforementioned draw at Zero Hour) so far. Tomorrow night will be the 345th day of her reign since winning the title from Sarah Twilight last 10 October.
Pick: Alicia Lukas – Double champions have been hard to come by in Honor as it is. Dahlia’s shot at the Hardcore Tag Titles was a wash. Lukas and Tolson couldn’t even pin each other in their title for title match at Zero Hour. Syrin was denied trying to win the Women’s Honor Title off of Sam Tolson. No question Lukas retains to keep her iconic title reign going. Besides, "Two-Belt Ali" sounds a lot better than One-Belt Ali, don’t you think?
