It's Not Whether You Win or Lose: Can't Always Get What You Want Present ♦ L O S A N G E L E S • C A L I F O R N I A
[REC•]
"Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, get the wish I wish tonight."
On a clear and moonless night like tonight, it made perfect sense to visit one of the most popular tourist attractions: Griffith Park Observatory in downtown Los Angeles. The scene opens through the lens of a telescope.
The camera fades in on the four members of A-GIFT, Tatsu Ikeda and Winter holding the Hardcore Tag Team championships over their shoulders, Delia Darling standing to their right, and Mercedes Vargas standing to the left of the Kawaii Dragons. Mercedes picks up her phone, fires up the camera and immediately sets it to record for broadcast. She looks towards the rest of GIFT.
Mercedes: Hey, ladies? I have a question. After our dominant win at the Honor Supershow, who do you dedicate that win to?
Winter is the first to speak.
Winter: Oh, that's easy. I dedicate our win to the Kawaii Dragons. Oh, and of course to you, mama?
Mercedes: Flatterer.
Tatsu: I dedicate our win to, well, us. GIFT, the most dominiant collection of talent ever.
Mercedes: Not bad, not bad choices at all. You know who I dedicate this win to?
At that moment, Mercedes turns to the camera.
Mercedes: I dedicate this win to you, Brooke Saxon.
Mercedes point at the camera.
Mercedes: Did you watch the main event, Brooksie? Did you see how Dahlia got beached like a whale? Did you see how Tatsu and Winter put down Jessie Salco and Kate St-
Tatsu and Winter chime in.
Tatsu: BITCH FACE! BITCH FACE! BITCH FACE!
Winter: BITCH FACE! BITCH FACE! BITCH FACE!
Mercedes: How we dominated the three idiots you put in front of us just...like...that?
Mercedes dusts her hands in tune to her words.
Mercedes: You see, GIFT has been on a roll that last couple of shows now. Winter and Tatsu are tag team champions again despite the fact you stripped them of their rightful rematch all those months ago. Delia is finally in a championship match, despite the fact she made her in-ring debut all the way back in January. And while it's been more than five months since I lost the Honor Championship in a match I was never pinned, Mrs. Right has gone AWOL, I'm still unpinned going on fifteen months now, and you have a bitter lameduck champion who has only one title match since the night she won it. One.
Mercedes raises her index finger.
Mercedes: One title match, and that was back in July, roughly three months ago. Some dominant champion she's turning out to be, hmm? For those wondering like Jessie Salco, there's a reason why Delia didn't show up for that contract signing at the Honor Supershow. And no, it's not because she should have made a right turn at Albuquerque. Delia here doesn't need to sign a contract when she knows Alicia Lukas isn't anyone to lose sleep over. Alicia would have lost the war of words and the war in the ring. The first match Alicia won last month? Delia was only playing with a little mouse. Come Zero Hour, she's coming in for the kill. And just like how France won the World Cup this year, Delia's going to join them as a champion herself in less than two weeks. You might as well call Zero Hour an Ocober Surprise because there's going to be a new champion.
Mercedes steps between Tatsu and Winter now, putting her arms around both of her stablemates.
Mercedes: Tad Ezra can choose any two knuckleheads from Northern Lights to challenge Tatsu and Winter here, but it won't matter because they'll send them right back to Canada just as fast as they came. You want to play mind games to keep Tatsu and Winter on their toes, keep them in the dark on who they'll be stepping in the ring with? That's fine.
Winter: We could have just as easily marched down to Tad's office and demanded he spill who we'll be defending against, but that would put GIFT in a bad light, like we were desperate or scared.
Tatsu: Scared of what? We beat every tag team in Honor. Facing opponents less skilled should be piece of cake. If they really wanted to challenge us, they would clone us and have us face ourselves. On our own, we've set the bar. Together, you can't stop us.
Mercedes: It doesn't matter who Tad Ezra throws at the Kawaii Dragons. Whether it's one tag team, two tag teams, three tag teams. Hell, give them the whole damn tag division. The result will be the same.
Winter: NO ONE IS READY...
Tatsu: FOR THE KAWAII DRAGONS!
As they said this, Tatsu and Winter both raise their tag titles and clink their belts together with wide grins on their faces. Mercedes moves over from the pair to stand next to Delia.
Mercedes: There are some people, maybe even most people, who think that Delia isn't much of a threat. You would be wrong, of course. Delia is more than meets the eye. Because she has her focus other than wrestling doesn't make her any less of a threat than anyone else. And if you don't believe me, go ask Jessie how life was in Sin City Wrestling during Mean Girls. Go on, ask her. So Delia doesn't like battle royals? To that I say, "So what?" All the time she's been overlooked in Honor has led her to this very moment, and that will lead to Alicia's moment of clarity. If you didn't like Delia at her worst, you're definitely not going to like her at her best. At Zero Hour, just as how I embarrassed and humiliated one Sam Tolson at the first event this time last year, Alicia Lukas is going to learn the difference between reality and fantasy. The reality is her joke of a title reign will be over, and not a moment too soon. The fantasy is that she had any choice in the matter.
Mercedes holds up an index finger in a wait-a-minute gesture.
Mercedes: I have a little something special in my hand...
She reveals a copy of the contract for the Honor World Championship match.
Mercedes: And on October 13, the Honor Championship is on the line against none other than the Lioness. Granted, Alicia can count the total losses she has in Honor on one hand. You know who's responsible for handing her two of those losses?
She points to herself.
Mercedes: This girl right here. You know who owns a pinfall victory over Alicia Lukas? That's right, me. You know who has never lost to Alicia Lukas? Well, you get the idea. Alicia, you've been asking "why, why, why'? How about why should Delia have shown up to that contract signing, which you didn't appear either? Or why would she have to share the same ring and stare into the face of mediocrity? Or even why should Delia care about this company when they have treated her like garbage since day one? You can try and spin why I'm not getting in that ring with you to take that chip off your shoulder and that title off your waist, but let me quickly remind you that the same Brooke Saxon who I'm going to embarrass and humiliate Saturday night is the same person who handed you - oops, there's that word again - a shot at the Honor Championship. She gave you an out. She found you a loophole to weasel your way into what should have been a one-on-one match between me and Mrs. Right and made her efforts winning a one-night tournament where she beat 15 other women to become number one contender a fucking joke. All you did was beat Cynthia Warren and Jessie Salco. Right now, it's all about these three.
Mercedes gestures towards her stablemates.
Mercedes: You make it seem like I have doubts about getting in the ring with you. You make it sound like I'm running scared from you. I have nothing to prove to you, Alicia. You had your chance to end my unpinned streak and you blew it. Let it go.
Mercedes has a serious look on her face.
Mercedes: You want to say you're going to kill Delia? Worst mistake you made was allowing her to live. You might not even have to kill her this time, but you're going have to come pretty damn close. Can't always get what you want, but you're going to get what's coming to you. Consider it a GIFT from us.
Delia: Alicia, take pleasure in knowing vous are z’e next to fall to my feet. Oh, you're a great wrestler, but that's all you are is a wrestler. I am an visionary. I am someone that little girls can look up to. I am more than just a professional wrestler. I'm an actress, I'm an athlete, I'm an icon in the fashion industry, I'm a brand, as well as a professional wrestler. I believe z’at makes me a five-star threat. Without Delia Darling there would be no Alicia Lukas... I’ve been fighting z'e bottom-feeders of ze's division like z'e Ruins Sisters and Remi Skyfire over and over again. I’m done playing nice. I’m done putting up wi’s it. I'm just done. You're out of time, out of options, and out of luck. I have waited seven long months to get what I deserve. Zero Hour will be my finest hour, and your worst nightmare. I'm ready to sign.
Mercedes turns her back and Delia uses it as a writing pad. Delia signs the contract with a flourish.
Mercedes: Saturday night is about taking a stand, it's about making a statement. It's about sending a message to you, Brooke Saxon, that I take a backseat to no one and that you will never hold me down. You're a spineless waste of an authority figure who backtracks everything you say and play favorites. Favoritism and being corrupt can only last for so long.
"GIFT has 3 times as much a chance to win at Zero Hour, but it's always been us against the world. Think about that. Now imagine what happens when we are walking out winners. How does that make you feel? Embarrassed? Ashamed? Maybe even jealous? Brooke, do you remember the last time you stepped up to me? Your own father gave you his blessing for that match roughly six months ago, and I made you tap. The only reason why I didn't hold on to the Peligro Rojo 2 longer and snap your leg in half is by the grace of God and because I'm a nice person. Not all the time, but most of the time.
I have done more in this company, and for this company, despite the lack of appreciation it has shown, then you ever will. Tell yourself how entitled you think you are, I don't care. You're not stopping me.
What happens in Vegas won't be staying there. So Brooke Saxon, Tad Ezra, mystery tag opponents, Alicia Lukas, we'll all be seeing you very soon.
The group smiles.
Tatsu: Prepare for the worst.
Winter: Hope for the best.
Delia: And may the odds...
Mercedes: ...be ever in your favor.

Brooke Saxon is seen watching the Honor Ssupershow's main event. Jessie Salco, Dahlia Rotten, and Kate Steele vs A Gift, Mercedes Vargas, Winter and Tatsu. Brooke watches the match with disgust.
Brooke disappointed at Kate Steele and her piss poor performance. Kate has shown week in and week out that she is little talk and no action whatsoever. Brooke realized she screwed over her Legacy champion and Pride champion having them team up with Kate.
Brooke: I should have just been in the match myself. The outcome of the match would have been different.
Brooke says out loud to herself.
Brooke: That was bullshit, just like Kate’s career. I will take care of Mercedes myself, the way it should have been.
Brooke turns off her 72 inch TV. she gets up from her couch and heads outside to her backyard. She puts on her MMA gloves to start hitting her punching bags.
Brooke: Mercedes has another thing coming if she thinks she is going to win this match.
Brooke says as she lets out combos of lefts and right.
Brooke: You have the best record in Honor Wrestling, you have beaten everyone I put in front of you. The thing you, you ain't that tough, I alone tossed your ass out of the Mayhem Survival. I alone showed you that you are not this wrestling god you try to portray yourself.
Brooke hits the bag a few more times.
Brooke: Go ahead and drop the stats you need to drop to make yourself look good. Do that for me so that when I drop you on your ass it will feel that much more greater for me. Sell yourself, build yourself up as the high and mighty of wrestling. Do that so when I kick your ass, I will look like a billion bucks. Yes billions as I’m already a million bucks, well, multi time millions but whatever you know what I mean.
Brooke starts hitting the big with combos of punches and kicks, this goes on for about 3 minutes. Brooke starts to sweat a bit before talking again.
Brooke: Mercedes, you have done well for yourself, I will admit but you are just as beatable as everyone else in the roster. You may have A Gift in many ways but you don't have my fists, my fast striking legs, my skills.
What you do have is three wrestlers with slightly less talent than you running behind you as you lead them into nothing. Delia is done nothing but run her mouth, she ran it so much that now Alicia gets to shut that trap up. You get your butt handed by me and Winter and Tatsu… Well who cares about those little girls.
Brooke takes one last punch onto the bag before taking off her gloves.
Brooke: Now to address this whole, Brooke is corrupt and abuses her power crap. Bitch, if I wanted to I can fire you without reason. That would be a abuse of power, or if I had you fighting handicap matches, that is abuse of power.
You come to my dad one more time with that shit and I will show you how abusive I can really be. I can turn this match into a MMA match. You won’t have a choice but to take the beating I give you. I can turn this into a No DQ match and have my way with you. Again you can’t do shit about it. Instead I put you in a match, one on one with me. A match in which you have the best chance in winning.
Now, you have no chance but I gave you the greatest chance to win this match. I guess you know that you are about to get pinned and need to say anything you can to get out of this match.
At Zero Hour, I will do just that. I will pin you 1, 2, 3, something everyone else seems to have a problem doing for some reason. I will show the fans just how good I am. The best way to do that is with you on your back like your name was Kate Steele.
Brooke shakes her head a bit.
Brooke: Steal can’t believe I did something so dumb, why did I bother to put Kate Steele in that match. Whatever, I left her out of Zero Hour to make up for it as the fans deserve better.
They deserve to see Mercedes getting what has been coming to her for so long. Mercedes losing a match in Honor but her on her back… NO!!! Mercedes, I’m so sorry, I don’t know what been thinking this whole time. I will not pin you, that is not good enough.
Mercedes deserves for me to make her screen and tap out! That’s what I shall do, get her to say I Quit, in English or in Spanish. I really don’t care who she goes about saying those words but she will be saying them!
That is how this match at Zero Hour will go down. Be prepared to to tap and yell those words. Not one or the other but both. That is how this will go down. For those who love betting, go to my daddy’s casino and put your money on me making her scream.
Brooke walks away from the punching bags area and onto her oversized swimming pool. She takes off her shirt and shorts to reveal a two piece swimwear.
Brooke: For the record, I was happy to have signed Mercedes over a year ago. I thought we would get along get. I was wrong, I hardly ever wrong. But when I am wrong, I fix it and make it right. That is what I will do at Zero Hour.
In a few days Mercedes, in a few days, I make things right. See you soon.
Brooke jumps in the pool to begin swimming laps. she stays focused on her match. A big match for her rather she wants to admit it to everyone or not. A match that she feels she has to win, she has to prove to everyone that Mercedes is as beautiful as Kate Steel…. Kate Fucking Steele. Bitchface word have worked but for trademark reasons we can not use that term as we wish not to get sued by the Gift.
Brooke swims about 20 laps before getting out the pool to sit on the edge to catch her breath. She looks at the camera and signals to shut it off as she wishes not to speak no matter on her match.
